Chlorpyrifos (CPF) is a pesticide widely used in Colombia´s agriculture, including crops, farm animals and pets, despite it has been banned for use the European Union United States. Studies demonstrate that even low blood levels of CPF -which do not inhibit acetylcholinesterase- can lead to child developmental neurological disorders such as smaller head circumference brain alterations, psychomotor cognitive deficits related learning ability, attention memory. In adults, an endocrine disruptor breast carcinogen. High direct indirect economic costs have associated with exposure. Not only farmers their families -who highest exposures- but general population consuming crops sprayed are also at risk. For these reasons was recently by (2020) USA (2021). Pesticide regulation policies vary greatly depending on which how scientific studies assess health risks. evaluations funded chemical industry should be rectified avoid conflicts interest.
